Giving

Giving of oneself is dangerous
and may risk debts.

Better, perhaps, is to be sold,
thus, acquiring value,

 no longer taken for granted
as, perhaps, fake gold.

A soldier called up in a draft
is not asked to name

the fate he chooses to receive,
being marked for death,

if he is not incredibly lucky.
