Waiting

The farmer whose crops need rain
is forever
looking at the sky.

 For a child, nothing's bigger than Christmas;
for the poor
a check lost in the mail.

 Yearning is referred to as longing
because
so often it’s stretched out.

 As humans, we’re accustomed to waiting,
not always,
but, usually, with hope.
