Poet

So What

I find little love in her life
although we tried,
my sisters and I,
to provide it.

We were rebuffed
and, worse than rebuffed,
were punished.

And it was clear,
the punishment drove us
away,

too far to hear
the desperate cries for love
that were ever near.
