Poetics

My body cracked open like an egg.

Beauty reached out
and grabbed me by the throat.
I was nearly choking,
seeing everything in a burst of light.

As if in a flash of lightning,
details stood out.
I was for the first time struck dumb
simply by wonder.

I was, literally, sucked under;
drowned and fell in love.
