Trust I

Trust is a gift and a burden,
a privilege
that incurs a debt.

On one hand, you are promised freedom,
on the other,
not allowed to forget.

With God,
trust’s a special occasion
which uncouples the gift from the debt.

All debt having once been forgiven,
freedom is what you have left.
