Going Double

Two homes, two wives, two children:
the world runs double,
exhibiting a lack of focus.

It’s a sign of trouble.

I have always kept an eye on the other,
whether nests or hives,
or the other hole in an outhouse.

The result is a constant surveillance
and an endless quest
in which what’s sought after is balance;

yet is a quest
that by nature is multicultural.
