A Poem For Dorothy (Who Is Not Right)

Outside curricular currents
and tutorial weirs,
she creates a still point.

Her gyroscopic thought,
spun in reverse,
assures detachment.

She walks as a shade or shadow,
her brittle grace
as envied and feared

as the great blue heron's:
she stalks the shadowy shallows,
pursuing quicksilver fish.
