The Creek
The creek flows through it
and carries all earthly truth with it.
It builds up sand dunes and benches
that like wisdom lie
collecting and preserving the land.
Feet and hands may print it,
rocks and shells adorn it
as tides sweep back and forth
across it.
Still the seashore stands
and creeps ever inward and outward,
building dunes with grasses
as a lasting protection
for land.
Man destroys this
in his thoughtless hunger for wealth,
fails to understand
each grain of sand represents
the content and buildup
of wisdom
and the grit of lives.
