So It Is

In this world there are the hungry
and the hunted:
the one who hides and is
frantically sought;

one who eats and one who is eaten;
one who beats,
one habitually beaten.

This seems to be defined as the “normal.”
But there is also an act
called revolt

in which the hunter,
for the first time wiped out,
is the eaten.

In society this is called revolution.

And, of course, there is evolution
which gives us hope
that humankind
may one day, evolve.

But it’s not for certain.
