Republicanism

The GOP considers locals (Lincoln excepted)
unpretentious rubes,
dumb yokels
who are not, like them, educated;

who accept monstrous explanations,
outrageous lies
and except intolerable behavior
as true and right.

So, America is enamored with wealth.
Our greed explains
why Iran names America
“Great Satan,”

and also why
our Senate pays little attention to rising debt,
in fact, adds to it,
while ignoring our discredited standing
among democratic nations.
